Are there things you should know before excepting the role of Executor?

As an Executor you will be legally responsible for handling this persons estate when they die. This means that you can’t say I didn’t know that as a defence if anything goes wrong, as you are expected to know. If the Will has been constructed properly then you shouldn’t be on your own there should be up to 4 of you to share the load and the nominator should have picked people you are able to work with and agree with. You are going to be responsible for the deceased money, property and possessions from the day they pass until the estate is distributed to the beneficiaries, which could be 6-9 months. But the most important thing you should know is that you will be doing all this work for free.
