How do I fund a trust?

The costs linked to trusts are split into three areas creation, initiation and maintenance. The cost to create a trust will of course vary depending on who you use to create it and what the trust is expected to achieve.  In most cases this is relatively modest based on the benefits it will deliver, often giving a return on invest in the thousands of percentages. Having been created the trust often lies dormant for years doing nothing and costing nothing until the circumstances for its use arrive, the passing of an individual. The trust then needs to be initiated by registering it and allocating the assets stated into the trust via a meeting of the trustees. Both of these events do have modest costs associated with them but equally can be free depending on who you use. The  trust then needs maintaining over its life time, which requires an annual tax return and a trustee meeting every time something needs to be recorded related to a trust activity.  Often this may not happen for many years, again this will have modest or no cost depending on who you use.
